A Place for Ruth

Gertrude Slabach – Ruth, a German Mennonite girl, is raised in Nazi Germany. Near the end of the World War II, Ruth, her mother, and Ruth’s siblings became refugees in Denmark. Mr. Reimer, their father, was a prisoner of war for awhile. When the family was in Denmark they received care packages through the MCC. Without these care packages Mrs. Reimer felt they couldn’t have survived. When they were finally reunited with Mr. Reimer, they were penniless and destitute. Where could they call home?
