Marshall Saunders –  Beautiful Joe got his name from looking just the opposite of beautiful! His first owner had killed his other siblings and then chopped off his ears and tail. He is found by a kind person who brings him to their own home where he is loved and cared for. The story is told from the dog’s point of view.
