Kenneth Thomasma– Many Winnebago Indians were forced to leave their homes and land in Minnesota. They travelled by boat and in cattle cars to South Dakota. Many people died. Kunu, a young boy, and his grandfather secretly make a dugout boat and escape, travelling many weary miles by water back to their homeland. R:LY
